Celebrating the Life of Frank Emanuel

Our beloved friend and brother in Christ, Frank Emanuel, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, this past Friday, September 22, 2023. We will be holding a funeral service to remember and honor him this Sunday, October 1st, at 2 PM at Lahuiokalani Ka’analpali Congregational Church, 3650 L Honoapiilani Rd., Honokowai, HI 96761. The service will be held one hour after our Sunday noon worship service.

After the service, the family invites you to stay a while, enjoy cake and punch, and talk story on the lawn in front of the church.

Parking at the church is limited, but there is parking available next door at the Farmer’s Market store and at the apartment complex behind the store. (See map below)

Frank S Emanuel, 88, of Kahana, Maui, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2023, surrounded by his loving family at his home in Kahana while under hospice care. Frank was born on July 28, 1935, in West Orange, New Jersey to Robert S Emanuel of West Orange, New Jersey and Dorothy (Dot) Stone Emanuel of Hardwick, Vermont. Frank passed away two weeks short of the 55th anniversary of his wedding to his wife, Jane. Frank was predeceased by his brother John (Jack) Emanuel. He is survived by his sister Grace Gilkeson, his wife S. Jane Emanuel; sons, Frank (Ty) and Robert (Rob); daughter-in-law Mary, Ty’s partner Amanda, grandson Leo Emanuel and several nieces and nephews.

Frank graduated from the University of Vermont and served overseas as an officer in the United States Airforce. His profession was Hotelier, managing resorts in Florida and Vermont. He and Jane were owner-innkeepers of the Middlebury Inn in Middlebury, Vermont for 30 years before retiring to Maui. For the last 35 years Frank and Jane spent time in Kahana, Maui, fully retiring there fifteen years ago. Frank was an active member and trustee of the Lahaina United Methodist Church and a lifelong supporter of his family’s historical church, St John The Baptist’s Episcopal Church in Hardwick, Vermont.
